Unprecedented Air Support Near the Capital
The Fontainebleau forest, a natural treasure close to Paris, recently faced exceptional wildfires that demanded a colossal mobilization of resources. Notably, Canadair aircraft were deployed in this area for the very first time, a clear indication of the severity of the situation. Over 2,000 hectares were engulfed by the flames, an unusual occurrence in such close proximity to the French capital.
The Battle Against the Blaze: Firefighters and Helicopters Mobilized
The fight against these devastating fires involved more than 400 firefighters on the ground, supported by helicopters. Their combined efforts, alongside the aerial intervention of the Canadair planes, were crucial in containing the spread of the fire. The gravity of the situation was further highlighted by the closure of the A6 motorway, a major access route, due to flames threatening nearby homes.
Arrests Made on Suspicion of Arson
As firefighting efforts continued, authorities launched an investigation to determine the cause of the blazes. Two individuals were arrested on suspicion of having started the fire. This aspect adds a disturbing layer to the events, suggesting that the disaster might have been the result of deliberate human action, rather than just unfavorable weather conditions.
